Dr. Amy F. Miller, LMFT

My Background

I have a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have 13 years experience, and I have presented nationally and internationally on topics related to Sexuality and Gender

My Experience

Most of my experience has been centered around the subject of sex and sexuality.

Some specific examples includes:

  •  Teenagers and young adults who identify as transgender or gender non-binary.
  •  Couples struggling with intimacy within their relationship.
  • Individuals who have sexual interest or concerns and need support.
  • Women struggling with sexual enjoyment.
  • Couples who identify as polyamorous.

Treatment Philosophy

My focus is always to make sure my clients feel as though their journey is honored, and that they can experience the change they desire.

I work with clients on shifting the way they relate to their problems, and exploring possibilities for  differences to occur.  It's not about figuring the "why", but paying attention to today and what you want tomorrow to look like.

I believe that my clients are the experts of their lives, and I am pleased to provide a space for possibilities to emerge.

Presentations

On Sunday, February 9th, 2012, the Graduate School of Humanities and Social SciencesStudent Government Association hosted an event: "Shhh! Shss is Talking". This event was a TED inspired talk which focused on "Sex and Culture".

In this presentation, the emphasis is on the conflicting relationship women experience with their own sexuality

Amy Miller, Ph.D, LMFT presented her Ted inspired talk titled
"The Dichotomy of Sexuality".

Call a Therapist

Taken at the 2013 EXXXOTICA event in Ft. Lauderdale, I addressed a crowd eager to learn how to utilize a therapist when it comes to our most intimate concerns.

(please don't mind the shaky camera work, or the generally poor quality).
